How are we already heading on Week 3? It feels like we were just launching boats and kicking off the summer yesterday! Time really does fly when you’re having fun, (so much so that this newsletter is a little late being uploaded… our apologies!)
After two fantastic weeks, summer at the club is officially in full swing. We’ve seen some incredible Fun Day costumes, impressive dance moves, plenty of smiles, and even some sailors showing off their growing skills on the water. The wind hasn’t always been on our side, but the energy around the club definitely has!
Let’s see what’s happening this week!
Tuesday Movie Night and Fun Day:
Now due to the lateness of this newsletter, these events have already happened, but don’t worry, they were a success! Our fun day theme today was Treasure Hunt, where all the sailors followed clues hidden around the club and on the water in order to collect letters needed to unscramble a mystery phrase!
Friday Dance
The dance runs from 7:00–9:00 p.m., admission is $2, and pop and candy will be available to purchase. The theme of the dance this week is: DISCO!!!
Don’t be afraid to go all out with your costume because the best dressed will take home a prize!
Sunday Afternoons
Last Sunday we unfortunately didn’t have enough wind to get in any races. But worry not, because we’re doing it all again this Sunday! Come down to the club at 1:00 p.m., with the first race starting at 1:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome! Bring your own boat or borrow one of ours and compete for a chance to win one of the club’s biggest trophies at Prize Giving later this summer.
Steerers & Four Sisters:
We had a large group depart today to head on down to PCYC in Toronto to attend the Steerers and Four Sisters regattas. Good luck to all the teams, and thank you to everyone who has helped organize, plan, trailer, and host the sailors.
REMINDERS:
If you’re riding your bike to the club, please remember that helmets are required, and always ride carefully and stay aware of your surroundings. Safety first!
With another hot week ahead, please make sure every sailor comes prepared. Be sure to pack:
● Plenty of water (more than you think you’ll need!)
● A lifejacket
● Close-toed shoes
● Sunscreen (remember to reapply throughout the day)
● A hat and light clothing
● A towel
● Snacks
