One week of club is finished!! Yahooo!!
It was so awesome to see so many familiar faces and some new ones!!
We had an incredibly hot start to the summer, and although this week will be slightly cooler it is still supposed to be very hot so make sure to bring lots of sunscreen, water, and snacks.
And now without further ado, let’s get started with the week 2 itinerary!
Movie Night:
Our first event of the week is Movie Night!!!! Run by our trusty backshedders, movie night will be hosted in the new building at the club. The first movie will start at 6:30 and end at 8:00! Don’t worry, we will have the movie properly set up and running this week. The backshed will be providing sailors with popcorn and juice so make sure to bring a cup! There will also be candy for sale, so make sure to bring some extra change.
For sailors 13, or turning 13 by the end of the year, there will be a second movie!! It starts at 8:30, and ends around 10:30-11! It’s usually pretty spooky, so get ready to be scared.
Wednesday Fun Day & Pizza Lunch:
Every Wednesday at the club we have a super awesome fun day! The themes change each week, and this week is Balloon Day!!! Fun days offer sailors a chance to get together with other kids in different levels and let them battle it out to see who will be the ultimate fun day champion!
Balloon day will require sailors to collect different coloured balloons on the water—each colour is a different amount of points—and whichever team collects the most points will win a special prize. Now there is one special balloon called the golden snitch that sailors must keep their eyes out for, as it is the one balloon that can win the entire event for a team, should it be brought back to land safely.
Sailors are encouraged to dress up as their favourite harry potter characters, and make sure to compliment the awesome instructors on their outfits!
Club will end at 1pm instead of 12:30 as there will be a pizza lunch offered for sailors when they return to land! We offer pepperoni, hawaiian, cheese, and veggie pizza! Orders will be collected at attendance, and payment is included in registration. If you have any allergies, or require gluten free pizza, please let us know!
Friday Dance
This Friday, we’re bringing the beach to the sailing club! Grab your best tropical gear and join us for a night of island fun.
Wear floral shirts, tropical dresses, leis, sunglasses, swimsuits, buckets hats, flip-flops, and anything you’d wear on a tropical vacation. The brighter and more colourful, the better! The two sailors with the best outfits will be awarded a prize of undisclosed awesomeness!
The dance runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, it’s $2 to get in, and the backshedders will be selling snacks, pop, candy, and freezies throughout.
Sunday Afternoons
New this week: Sunday Afternoon Races begin!!
We have sailing races every Sunday for anyone who would like to come join us. Sail with your kids, your friends, your dog, or whoever you’d like to bring. You can use any of the boats at the club (first come first serve), or you can bring your own!
First gun to start off the races will be at 1:30, so make sure to give yourself enough time to rig up your boats and get out on the water! We will have between 1-4 races depending on wind and weather.
At the end of summer prizegiving there is a trophy for whoever wins the most races over the course of the summer. Its the biggest trophy we have, so make sure to bring your racing spirit
Biking to Club:
Please make sure to always wear a helmet when biking and be careful of the sharp turn into the driveway. Parents, when picking up and dropping off kids please be mindful of all of our sailors who bike.
Don’t Forget:
Bring a refillable water bottle, Bring a lifejacket, close-toed shoes, sunscreen, a hat, a towel and of course some snacks!
We may also be expecting some rain this week, and we will still go sailing in the rain, (as long as it’s not thunderstorming) so make sure to bring a rain jacket if needed!
We are all super excited for the week ahead!!
