Week 6: August 5th-August 8th
We’re rolling into Week 6 and I personally can’t believe how fast the summer is flying by! With Civic Weekend wrapped up and a few big events behind us, now’s the time to recharge, refocus, and keep the momentum going for an awesome August.
Civic Weekend — That’s a Wrap!
A huge shoutout to everyone who participated in Civic, whether you raced, volunteered, supported from shore, or just showed up and cheered. Saturday’s regatta was full of action, and it was awesome seeing our sailors push themselves and have fun.
Big thanks to everyone who made it happen, instructors, safety boats, board members, and volunteers. And congrats to all the competitors!
Tuesday Movie Night
And of course, here we are back with another movie night! The backshed has taken a couple losses as 2 of our cherished members had to return to their homes down south (we will miss you Alden & Vivian ). We hope that the remaining members are able to keep up the hype in their morning announcements, or else we’re going to be watching them do burpees as punishment!
Movie night starts at 6:30 and ends around 8:30! It’s 2$ to get in and make sure you bring a reusable cup for juice that will be served. As well, bring some extra change for candy that will be sold!! Popcorn will also be given out, because what’s a movie night without some popcorn?!
There will also be a second movie starting closer to 9pm, for those 13 or turning 13 by the end of the year. Make sure you come prepared, because the movie will either spook you, or make you laugh. Honestly maybe a bit of both, depending on what we decide.
Wednesday Fun Day
This week the fun day theme is…. Sports day!!!! So dress up in your sportiest outfits and bring your best cheering voice to pump up your teammates for this awesome fun day! Be prepared to get competitive as we have a lot of sporty events on our roster. From sumo wrestling (gently), to basketball, to golf, we have a sport for everyone!!
Club ends at 1pm on Wednesday, as we have a pizza lunch to finish off the day of sports and fun! You get two slices of pizza and can choose between cheese, pepperoni, hawaiian, and veggie! We also can arrange for gluten free pizza if needed.
Friday Dance
This Friday is the ABC Dance!! ABC stands for Anything But Clothes. Now we definitely need you to wear something to the dance, but instead of regular clothes, think: newspaper capes, garbage bag gowns, cardboard suits, duct tape masterpieces, twisterboard tuxes.
So get creative and come dressed in your most ridiculous yet resourceful outfit, made out of literally anything that’s not regular clothing!
Cottage Club Regatta
On Wednesday afternoon a number of sailors from both the junior and senior race teams will be heading to Stony Lake to attend Cottage Club Regatta!! We just want to wish them all the best of luck, and hope that they have a great time racing against a bunch of other cottage clubs!! Make sure to cheer loudly for them when they arrive home during the dance on Friday!!
Don’t Forget!
We’ve had a pretty hot summer, and it the temperature doesn’t seem to be backing down too much, so as always, please make sure sailors come with:
- Lots of water
- Lifejacket
- Close-toed shoes
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Towel
- Snacks
We hope everyone has been having a restful Monday and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow for our shorter, but action packed week!!
