SLSC 2025 – Chapter 3

Week 3: July 14th-July18th

Somehow how, we’re already heading into Week 3—and I swear we just put the boats on the docks yesterday?? Time flies when you’re sailing, dumping, and getting slightly sunburnt despite applying SPF 50 three times a day.

With two great weeks under our belt, it’s safe to say the summer is in full swing. We’ve seen some epic fun day costumes, some serious dance floor moves, and maybe even a few sailing skills sneaking in there too.

The wind has been strong (sort of!), the vibes even stronger, and we can’t wait to do it all over again this week—with another fun day, a super cool dance theme, and of course… more pizza.

Tuesday Movie Night

This Tuesday night is Movie Night!!!! So come on down to the club for 6:30pm to watch a super awesome movie that the backshed will be picking out! Last week’s showing of the first Harry Potter, although we didn’t get to finish it, seemed to be a success! This week, we have full confidence that the backshed will pick an equally as fun movie (although unless it’s the 2nd Harry Potter then topping last week might be hard, but that’s just my personal opinion).

Its 2$ to get in and pickup is around 8:30, so make sure you bring a cup for juice, some money for candy that will be sold, and maybe a blanket or two to get comfy (however considering the current heat wave, you should maybe bring a fan instead).

There will be a 2nd movie for anyone 13 or older starting around 8:30, so make sure to come to that if you can! It’s an additional 2$ and will either be something super scary or something super hilarious, so come check it out!

Wednesday Fun Day & Pizza Lunch

This Wednesday the Fun Day is…. Treasure Hunt! Come dressed in your best adventurer costume (think indiana jones), and yes, it’s exactly as epic as it sounds. Sailors will be following clues hidden around the club and on the water, with each clue leading them to a new place and providing them with letters they have to collect in order to unscramble a secret mystery word. The first team to crack the code wins!!

And of course, don’t forget that Pizza Lunch is also happening Wednesday! As always, we’ll take orders during morning attendance (pepperoni, cheese, veggie, hawaiian—gluten-free available by request). Club will end at 1:00pm so everyone has time to fuel up after a full morning of sleuthing.

(P.S. I think I accidentally said club ends at 1:30pm on Wednesdays in my past 2 newsletters… please disregard! It was meant to be 1!!)

Friday Dance

This week as per request of the backshed, I’ve been asked to keep the theme a secret until they reveal it at Thursday morning attendance. So stay tuned to the SLSC Instagram where we will update you with the theme later this week!

Dance starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm! It’s 2$ to get in and pop & candy will be sold so bring some extra change!! Make sure to dress over the top in your costume, and the best dressed will win a prize!!

Sunday Afternoons

We had an awesome day of racing this week! 4 successful races and a turnout of 5 boats!! 

We’re going to be having another Sunday Afts this weekend, as we want to squeeze in some more fun racing before our following weekends of Mids and Civic! 

So come down to the club on Sunday at 1pm! First gun will be at 1:30!!

Anyone is welcome! Bring a boat or sail one of ours for the opportunity to win our biggest trophy at prize giving at the end of the summer!!

 

It’s hot out there—and this week is shaping up to be extra toasty, so please make sure sailors come to club prepared for the heat:

• LOTS of water (seriously… double whatever you usually bring!)
• Lifejacket
• Close-toed shoes
• Sunscreen (and don’t be afraid to reapply throughout the day!)
• A hat and lightweight clothing
• Towel
• Snacks 

We do have a water refilling station, however bringing water bottles is a must! Hydrated sailors are happy sailors!
