SLSC Instructor Newsletter 2023

Volume 3

It’s so hard to believe that the first 2 weeks of club are already over! The summer has already started to fly by, and we (the instructors) are super excited to make the most of the next 6 weeks!

Firstly, our first Mid-Ontario regatta in 5 years was a HUGE success! On behalf of the club we want to thank everyone who contributed to making the event such a success. We are super happy that we can get back into the groove of hosting a regatta after a high and dry 5 years of delays.

Movie night tonight!!! Meet us at 6:30pm tonight for a screening of a surprise movie! (Probably something Disney… as always) Our trusty backshedders have finally figured out our precarious projector situation, and so we can most definitely promise a movie on Tuesdays from here on out. So be there or be square. Tonight. 6:30 – 8:30. $1 dollar entry. Candy will be sold! As always, there is a second movie for our 13+ crowd.

Christmas in July!!!! Wednesday is FUNDAY! This week we will be having a Christmas themed party at club. Expect lots of milk and cookies, hide and seek with Santa, and of course… PIZZA LUNCH! As lunch will be provided at club we will end at 1pm instead of 12:30. Come to club in your best Christmas attire (or whatever holiday your family celebrates :)) and expect an extra fun FUNDAY!

Friday night is dance night!!!! Our backshedders will be attending Four Sisters regatta at PCYC this weekend, so our instructors will be stepping in to throw the party! In ancient Roman times, the toga was and exclusive garment… so what better place to wear such a thing than the upstairs of our beloved clubhouse!? This Friday night will be the Toga dance, so come in your most stylish Greek attire to win a prize! The dance is 2 dollars, for 2 times the fun.. and as always drinks and treats will be sold. We can’t wait to see you all there!

Instructor dinners!!! A yearly tradition at SLSC is for the families to host the instructors for a meal. It’s a great way to get to know the instructor team, and we will never pass up a free meal! We would be so grateful to have the opportunity to spend some time with all the amazing families who take time out of their summers to spend time at the club. Below is a link to sign up to host an instructor dinner. We look forward to sharing a meal with all of you!

A few reminders: if you are driving your kids to the sailing club please drive DEAD SLOW as many of our club-goers come on bikes. If you’re biking, please wear a helmet and use the bike path! Club starts at 8:30 every morning, so please try not to be too early. Finally, we ask that all snacks being sent to club are nut free 🙂 On behalf of all the instructors, thanks for an incredible 2 weeks and we can’t wait for the rest of summer.

As always please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. And be sure to follow us on insta! @slscinsta 🙂

Thanks for reading!
