SLSC 2022: Chapter 8

Wow!!!! What a summer it has been. So much learning & excitement has taken place this summer, and we can’t believe it’s actually almost over. We want to thank all the parents and sailors for making this summer a true redemption from COVID summers that have passed. Thank you for your continuing support, and we can’t wait to see you next year!!

The last movie night of the summer will be taking place at SLSC this Tuesday night at 6 pm. It will be $1 to get in, and candy will be sold. Don’t forget to bring a reusable cup for juice. If you are 13 years old, or older, join us for a second movie starting around 8 pm. It’s another dollar to get in. Hope to see you all there!!

Another classic SLSC tradition will be taking place on Wednesday night: the bonfire!!! An evening full of sing-alongs, smores, and scary stories… the SLSC bonfire is a fan favorite at the club! Come to the club from 7 to 9 pm. There is a $5 entry fee BUT this gets you 1 hotdog and 2 s’mores!!! There will also be a talent show at the bonfire!!! So bring your very best act for a super fun night!!

For our final fun day of the summer, we will be trekking back to Verulam!!!! A fun day full of sailing, chicken wars, and pizza!!! Your sailors will get their typical Wednesday pizza lunch at Verulam! Club will end a bit later on Wednesday, due to the fact that we have to sail there.. so pick up will around 2 pm on Wednesday. We can’t wait to spend another fun day with everyone before the summer is over!!

Please join us for our annual end-of-year Prizegiving ceremony at the Sturgeon Point Union Church at 7 pm on Friday evening. Perhaps the most coveted award (the silver platter) will be awarded on Friday evening, so we hope to see you all there!! Directly following the ceremony, the Sweetheart Dance will start at the Clubhouse. We hope to see everyone in their fanciest Prizegiving attire to impress their Sweethearts <3 !!! To go over all of that again: Prizegiving will be at the Church at 7 pm, followed by the dance at the Club from 8 until 10 pm. It’s the last dance of the season, so we hope to see you all there!!!!!!

We are looking for volunteers to help pack up the club for the winter. Please come down to the Clubhouse at 10 am on Saturday to help. Lunch will be provided and we could really use everyone’s help!! Hope to see you all on Saturday!

Please remember to send your sailor to club every day with a snack, water, and extra foul weather gear in case of rain.

If you’re driving to club please be mindful of our sailors biking to club!!

Thanks for a fantastic summer!!!
