SLSC Newsletter Week 3, 2012

This is an exciting week for the racers at SLSC! This Wednesday the ‘Elite Opti Race Squadron’ is off to its first regatta at PCYC! We are really excited for them and wish them the best of luck! Then this weekend the Race Team is racing at PCYC as well. Good luck racers!

Dances and Movie Night

This Tuesday night is movie night!  The first movie starts at 6:30 and is suitable for all ages and the second movie is suitable for kids aged 13 and up.  Each movie is $1 and popcorn and juice will be served. See you there!

This Friday is the Toga Dance! Come dressed in your favorite bed sheet ready to dance the night away! The dance is $1 and pop will be sold for $1 and freezies for 25 cents. The person with the best today will get a prize! The dance runs from 7 until 9. See you then!

Fun Day and Pizza Lunch

This Wednesday is SLSC’s first Hunger Games day! Come dressed ready for the games! May the odds be ever in your favour!

As always this Wednesday is also Pizza Lunch.  Two slices of pizza, lemonade and an ice cream sandwich are $7.50.  Pizza arrives at 12:30 and pick up is at 1.

Wednesday Night and Sunday Afternoon Races

This Wednesday will be the second edition of our Wednesday night racing series.  Come down to the club at 6:30 to rig, and we will assign everyone a boat to sail in.  After the races, stay for a bonfire and reward your racing with some smores!

Our next set of Sunday afternoon races will be Sunday August the 12th.  Come down to the club at 1:00 with or without a crew.  The races will be sailed without trapeze or spinnaker, so sailors of all skills levels are welcome and encouraged to come out! (Parents too!)

Things to Bring

As always we’re promoting a waste-free sailing club, so we encourage all sailors to bring their own reusable water bottle to club. We have a water cooler up stairs that we will be sure is always full for sailors to fill their water bottles up with. Other things that are important to bring everyday are a PFD, closed toed shoes, a change of clothes, weather appropriate gear (a little rain doesn’t keep us from sailing!), a towel, sunscreen, a hat and a snack.

Happy Sailing!
