2010 Racing Schedule is Taking Shape

Ontario Sailing announced today that the 2010 Dinghy Provincial Championships will be held again this year in Kingston, Ontario in September as part of Fall CORK.

In order to qualify for the Provincial Championships,  sailors must participate in a minimum of three of the five Ontario Sailing Qualifying regattas and pay a one time registration fee to Ontario Sailing of $28.25 (includes taxes).

Classes that will be participating in the Provincial Championships are as follows:
Laser, Radial, 420, 29er, Optimist

The Qualifying Series Regattas are as follws:
Qualifying Event #1 – Lilac Festival, RHYC – May 29th & 30th
Qualifying Event #2 – Sailfest Sarnia, SYC – July 10th & 11th (Laser, Radial, 420, 29er)
Qualifying Event #2 – Fogh Boorman, RHYC – July 10th & 11th (Optimist)

Qualifying Event #4 – National Capital, BYC – August 14th & 15th
Qualifying Event #5 – CORK International, CORK – August 16th – 19th

Also, the CYA Youth Championships will be held August 1st – 7th at the Nepean Sailing Club.  This year, sailors will need to qualify for the Youth Championships.  Ontario Sailing has also announced today that part of the requirement to qualify for the CYA Youth Championships Regatta will include paying the 2010 Qualifying Series Registration fee and competing in two of the qualifying series regattas before Youth Champs.

More information on how to qualify for this regatta will be coming in the near future, but for sailors looking to qualify, some consideration will need to be given to sailing in the Lilac Festival Regatta May 29th and 30th.  The Club will have one 420 boat available – Buffalo Sailing and Canoe Club has offerred to transport the boat sailed by Kate and Amy in Florida in February to the regatta for us, so if there is an SLSC crew interested in sailing at Lilac, they should let me know.
