The World’s Masters Are Off After Danny Wrecks Havoc

The World Laser Masters’ Regatta is off as sailors completed their first races today; this after Tropical Storm Danny  knocked out power to the St. Margaret Sailing Club last night and an event tent blew down and wrapped around a power line.

Undaunted, SLSC’s Richard Roberts is off to a solid start in the Radial Rig Grand Masters’ Fleet, sitting in 10th place after finishes of 9th and 13th in the first two races.

Rob Koci, the winner of the Mid Ontario Radial Fleet, leads the Grand Master Radial Rig world with two bullets in the first two races, followed by a Brit, Peter Whipp (two 2nds), and an Aussie, Peter Heywood (two 3rds).

There are also familiar names in other fleets, including Gerry Giffen (former SLSC head instructor and now CYA President).  Gerry sits 46th in a tough 85 boat Laser Full Rig Masters’ fleet.
