SLSC 2019: Chapter 8

Tuesday Night Movie

This Tuesday is our final movie night. Come out to the club for 6pm for an hour and 45 minutes ish and enjoy some juice and popcorn for $1 and bring some extra cash to buy candy. If you’re over the age of 13 (or turning 13 by December 31st) there will be a second movie for an additional $1.

Wednesday Fun Day and Pizza Lunch

This Wednesday is our final fun day! The instructors are still not sure what our theme is… but we will announce it Wednesday morning! As always, pizza will be served and club will end at 1pm to accomodate for our pizza eating time.

Wednesday Bonfire!

Please join us at the club this Wednesday for our annual bonfire and talent show! It costs $5 and includes 2 hot dogs (or veggie dogs!!), 2 smores, and a chance to see the highly anticipated dance off between Jack DesBrisay and Raeha Rix. The bonfire starts at 7 and ends at 9pm. Bring extra money for candy and pop!

Friday Prizegiving and Sweetheart Dance

Our end of year prizegiving is held at Sturgeon Point Union Church starting at 6pm. We will be presenting the awards from race week, Sunday afts, character awards, and our favourite award to hand out – the infamous silver platter.

Following the end of prizegiving, all sailors and instructors will gather into the clubhouse for our final dance. Entrance, pop, candy and freezies are all FREE!! The dance will run until approximately 9pm .

Annual General Meeting

Following the prize giving ceremony, SLSC will be hosting the Annual General Meeting at the church. This is your opportunity to voice any comments, questions, or concerns (hopefully there aren’t too many) about the club.

Saturday Clean Up Day & Popsicle

Please come help us pack up the sailing club (and celebrate my 20th birthday) on Saturday the 24th at 10am! There will be pizza lunch for all of the volunteers and a chance to say your goodbyes to sailing club and sign your name on the wall.

Our wonderful sailors, Tate Hodge and Charlotte Aspinwall, are selling popsicles for $2 each to raise money for sailing club! So bring some extra cash to clean up day and enjoy a popsicle guilt-free, because it’s going to a good cause.

Checklick

The instructors would like to emphasize that the CANSail curriculum is not a pass fail system, it is cumulative. If sailors did not complete their checklists this summer, it does not mean they have not progressed this summer.  In all likelihood, they have improved their skills and learned many new concepts.

Cheers,

Kate
