SLSC Newsletter: Week 6, 2013

SLSC Newsletter Week 6: August 5th, 2013

As the Civic Holiday Weekend comes to a close, SLSC is preparing for the 6th week of sailing club!

The Civic Regatta was a huge success! We had 6 different fleets and over 60 people come out to race. The heavy wind provided for an intense and exciting day. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this a wonderful regatta: those who assisted in registration, lunch and safety on the water as well as those who helped prepare the Civic BBQ. Congratulations to all the participants!

FUN DAY

This week’s fun day is a surprise! Come prepared for a fun-filled and action-packed day. There will be pizza lunch again this week. For $7.50, you can have 2 slices of pizza, an ice cream sandwich and lemonade. Pickup will be 1pm.

DANCES AND MOVIE NIGHT

The Silvers are organizing a movie night this week! The first movie open to all ages will begin at 6:30pm. Then, the second movie, for anyone turning 13 by the end of this year, will begin around 8:30pm. Each movie costs a dollar and includes popcorn and juice. Don’t forget to bring a cup!

Gather your tacky and fashion faux pas clothing! This week’s dance is what not to wear. Costumes of different shapes, sizes, colours and patterns are welcomed! The dance is this Friday at 7:00pm and costs one dollar. Pops and freezies will be available for purchase at one dollar and 25 cents.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RACES

We will be having Wednesday night races again this week at 6:30pm! Sailors of all levels can participate. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three boats and there will be s’mores for everyone at the end of the night! The races will end at 8:30pm.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON RACES

This week will be our third Sunday Afternoon Races! Sailors of all levels and ages should come down to the sailing club at 12:30pm on Sunday. The first race will begin at 1:30pm.

DON’T FORGET
In promoting a waste-free sailing club, we ask that all sailors bring a reusable water bottle to club. There will be water available to refill your bottle during the day. As always, don’t forget a PFD, closed toed shoes, a change of clothes, weather appropriate gear (we sail rain or shine!), sunscreen, a hat and of course a snack!
Good Luck to the 420 and Optimist sailors who are heading off to South Muskoka for the Cottage Club Regatta this Wednesday!

Wishing you a sail full of wind,

Keira and Kate
