Week 6
It’s hard to believe that we’re already this far into our summer at the sailing club. I guess they were right when they said: time flies when you’re having fun!! And we have definitely been having so. much. fun! Our sailors have persevered all summer, and are working hard in the home stretch to get those final checks on their Checklists. It’s been amazing seeing all the progress our sailors have made so far this year, and we are so excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store! (Hopefully less rain…)
TUESDAY MOVIE NIGHT
There will be a movie night on Tuesday! Come down to the club with a reusable cup for juice at 6 pm for a screening of a classic Disney flick!! It’s $1 to get in, and bring your extra change to buy candy and freezies. Popcorn will also be served (Backshed, please clean up the popcorn mess..) If you’re 13 or older, stay for a second movie!! It’s another dollar to get in, which is worth it for the scaring of a lifetime. The first movie will be over around 8, with the second movie starting shortly after. Hope to see you all there!
WEDNESDAY FUN DAY + PIZZA LUNCH
Calling all sports fanatics!! The sporting event of the century will be taking place at SLSC on Wednesday. Sports Day is the ultimate event for all of our first-class athletes to show off their skills… (Maybe the Breyfogles return to give a soccer clinic??). Come dressed as your favorite athlete for a chance to win an awesome prize!! Club will end slightly later on Wednesday (1 pm) as there will be a pizza lunch! We have to fuel our athletes, and there’s nothing more nutritious than a slice of fresh cheese pizza…
FRIDAY COUNTRY DANCE
An SLSC classic; this Friday’s dance will be country themed!!! Channel your inner Footloose, and bring your dancing boots down to the club on Friday night at 7 pm. There will be a prize for the best costume, so we better see some swaggy boots and epic hats. The dance has a $2 admission fee and pop, candy, and freezies will be sold. Get your line dancing ready for a spectacular country-themed party!! Once again, the dance starts at 7 and will end at 9. Hope to see all you cowgirls/boys/folks there!
COTTAGE CLUB + CORK
We want to give a huge congratulations to all of our sailors who raced at Cottage Club Regatta this past week!! They saw phenomenal results, and we are so proud of everyone who participated. Not to pick favourites, but our Feva Race Team absolutely crushed it!! We also want to wish Shannon and Suki good luck at CORK Regatta in Kingston this week!! #Shanuki !!!!!
SUNDAY AFTS
We had a stellar turnout for Sunday Afts, so thank you to everyone who came out! There are 2 more chances to beat Rowan’s #LoveBoat … Hope to see you all this weekend at 1 pm. First gun will (hopefully) be at 1:30.
REMINDERS
Please remember to bring sunscreen, water, snacks, and closed-toed shoes to club every day. Also, please send your sailor with foul weather gear (a raincoat or windbreaker) as there is some rain in the forecast!!
If you’re driving to club please be mindful of our sailors biking to and from club.
