Outreach

Part of our Club’s mandate is to introduce as many children as possible to  the joy and empowerment offered by sailing.   Our morning Learn to Sail programme leaves many afternoons free for outreach opportunities where we provide sailing instruction to groups of boys and girls who would not regularly have such an opportunity.   Last year for example, more than 50 children from the Kawartha Lakes Boys and Girls Club thoroughly enjoyed their opportunity to sail.  Take a moment to experience their excitement by viewing the attached video documenting their experience.

In 2019, SLSC is pleased to welcome the Lindsay Boys and Girls Club, Girl Guides from Bobcaygeon and Boy Scouts from Bancroft.

If you know of a group of children who might enjoy a similar opportunity, please contact me at the email address below.  Our 2019 learn to sail programme runs from the 1st of July until the 23rd of August. We currently have space available for week-long or day-to-day afternoon sessions running from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.  We can accommodate a maximum of 25 sailors between the ages of 8 and 16 years at any one time.

If you are about the Club on an outreach day, drop by to take a peak at the program in operation and watch kids who have had little or no sailing take our sport with such glee!

Looking forward to hearing from you.
