Dear Sailors, Families of Sailors, and Friends of the Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club, This summer marks the 57th year of activity at SLSC, and we are looking forward to a season no less sensational than any of the previous 56, replete with sailing, swimming, games, pizza lunches, dances and fun for all, including another gala-esque celebration! Last summer we enjoyed record attendance at the club, the completion of the first phase of our new building (“the Boathouse”), and renewed enthusiasm more Heinz Gebauer died of a heart attack on January 17, 2013 at the age of 80, after working out at the gym that day and after having gone out for dinner that evening. They have just finished a solid three-week training stint in more At last year’s Mid-Ontario Regatta, we gave away bags as prizes for the top finishers in the Canadian 420 National Championships. We had so many comments on the look of the bags that we decided to offer a larger weekend bag size version of them for purchase.
The bag is a good-sized duffel made by Nike, great for weekend trips to the cottage. It features a shoe pocket and the SLSC logo on the side. more Do you remember the old SLSC wine glasses? They only held a few ounces of wine but everyone bought some a few to show their pride in our club. Well for 2012 we have a whole collection of glassware for you to choose from.

The team left in the morning of Friday July 5, trailing 4 sailboats and a coach boat, packed to the rafters with equipment and gear, for the six-hour drive to the Sarnia Yacht Club – all this to sail in the annual Sarnia Sailfest Regatta, the qualifying regatta for the 2012 Ontario Summer Games. Murray McCullough, SLSC racing coach in 2006, 2007 and 2009, is CYA’s 2011 coach of the year. This award recognizes Murray’s fine technical knowledge of our sport, but far more than that, it recognizes his leadership and his personal skills – his ability to motivate and to embue in his athletes a sense of good sportsmanship along with a keen competititive spirit.
